Chiropractor Bloomington IL Jess Bruin

Clinic Director & Chiropractor

Jess Bruin, D.C.

When she’s not cheering on Formula 1 or chasing her daughter and dogs around the house, Dr. Jess is helping patients get back to doing what they love — because health should feel just as good as race-day adrenaline.

Raised in a chiropractic office, Dr. Jess was practically adjusted into existence. She believes care works best with a laugh, a dose of real talk, and maybe a little humor along the way. Over the years, she’s helped everyone from newborns to UFC fighters feel and function at their best — and yes, she adjusts her technique accordingly (no roundhouse kicks required).

Her career has taken her far beyond the Midwest. She’s worked around the world, from the beaches of Bermuda to the cobblestone streets of the Netherlands, where she practiced chiropractic, met her husband, Tom, and studied Dutch (though she’ll admit she’s gotten a little rusty).

Outside the office, Dr. Jess loves spending time with her family, planning her next adventure, or unwinding with a good laugh — usually courtesy of her daughter, Nora, or her dogs, Senna and Miles (car fans will catch the reference). She’s known for her contagious energy, her genuine care, and for reminding everyone that a good adjustment — like a good conversation — should leave you feeling a little lighter.

Chiropractor Bloomington IL Katie Mendini Meet The Team

Team Chiropractor

Katie Mendini, D.C.

Dr. Katie grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin — where the people are friendly, the winters are long, and learning to make others feel at home is practically a life skill. And no, she doesn’t have a pet cow (but she does know where to find the best cheese curds). She brings the kind of warmth that can thaw even the coldest January day — along with a passion for helping families move, grow, and feel their best.

Dr. Katie is a Palmer College of Chiropractic graduate with a passion for pregnancy, pediatric, and scoliosis care. She’s trained in the Webster Technique and loves helping moms have the birthing experience they want — and helping kids grow up strong, healthy, and full of potential. Her calm, caring approach helps patients of all ages feel comfortable and supported through every stage of care.

Her passion for scoliosis care comes from her own story. Dr. Katie was diagnosed with scoliosis as a kid and began treatment at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She remembers hating going to the doctor — until one visit changed everything. The team there made her feel seen, comfortable, and cared for, and that simple kindness sparked something lasting. From then on, she knew she wanted to work in healthcare and help people feel that same sense of reassurance. Her own chiropractic journey sealed the deal — she realized she could help others feel more positive, less afraid, and truly empowered in how they live and move long-term.

Outside the office, Dr. Katie can often be found baking — a habit that started while growing up in the kitchen with her family. Her very first job was at Culver’s (because, well… Wisconsin). When the holidays roll around, her favorite season shines as she adds to her collection of hand-blown glass ornaments from the Czech Republic.

Dr. Katie believes health should feel hopeful, personal, and even fun. She loves helping patients feel empowered in their care — and loves that laughter is part of the healing process at Action Wellness.

Team Chiropractor

Megan Joseph. D.C.

If the sun’s out, there’s a good chance Dr. Megan’s on the water — boating, tubing (usually the one getting flipped off), or soaking up a lake day with her black lab, Murray, who prefers supervising from the boat. She brings that same energy and love of movement into her work, helping patients feel strong, capable, and ready for whatever life throws their way.

Born and raised in Lincoln, Illinois, Dr. Megan grew up loving competition, connection, and a good challenge — traits that carried her through ten years of year-round basketball. She was recruited to play in college but ultimately chose to focus on academics and her growing fascination with how the body performs and heals.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL, and spent summers working at Timber Point Outdoor Center — a camp that makes outdoor adventures accessible for individuals with disabilities. That experience sparked her lifelong dedication to helping people with neurological conditions and athletes alike, showing both that movement can be empowering, joyful, and life-changing.

Outside the office, Dr. Megan’s happiest when she’s soaking up sunshine, coaching tennis, or planning her next Grand Slam adventure (she’s determined to see all four in person). When she slows down, you’ll probably find her quilting — a creative outlet that lets her trade the tennis racket for a needle and thread. Her patients will tell you she’s just as proud of her stitching as she is of her adjustments, and she’s always happy to show off her latest masterpiece.

Dr. Megan believes that health doesn’t just happen — you have to take action to make it work. Her mission is to help people play better, live better, and age better — and maybe share a laugh or a lake story along the way.

Scheduling Ninja

Kim Badalamenti

If you’ve called, texted, or stepped through the front door, you’ve probably already met Kim — the bright smile and upbeat energy that keeps our front desk running like clockwork. A lifelong Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac fan (she even saw Stevie live in Chicago — and yes, it was amazing), Kim brings that same rockstar vibe to work every day. When she’s not jamming out, she loves doing nails, a passion she’s been perfecting since 2020. She’s a proud mom to Colton and Evelyn, and their family pup, Missy, keeps everyone on their toes — along with her husband, who is unfortunately a Lewis Hamilton fan.

Benefits Champion

Jose Flores

If there’s a way to make insurance less confusing, Jose’s the guy who’ll do it — always with a smile and maybe a car metaphor or two. A man of many talents and a natural caregiver at heart, he helps patients keep their care stress-free while making sure everyone gets the benefits they deserve. When he’s not in the office, you’ll probably find him behind the wheel exploring new states, towns, or anywhere with a good view and bad radio signal. He loves cars, good company, and new adventures — and he’s convinced that a clean car drives at least 10% better.

Lauren Davis smiling in front of greenery

Movement Mentor

Lauren Davis

If multitasking were a sport, Lauren would be taking home the gold — ice cream in one hand, coloring pencil in the other, Stevie Nicks on full blast. A proud member of the Army Reserve, she’s all about service, balance, and a good sense of humor. At home, her orange cat, Rooster, runs the show — Lauren just pays the rent. She brings that same energy, focus, and sense of humor into helping patients move better and feel stronger every day.

Chiropractic Bloomington IL Kelley About

Movement Mentor

Kelley Harroun

If good vibes were a job, Kelley would have a lifetime contract. She brings sunshine and encouragement to everyone she meets — helping patients stay motivated, celebrate every little win, and feel confident in their progress. When she’s not in the office, you’ll probably find her floating down a lazy river, planning the next family getaway, or tending to her flowers. She’s all about balance — whether that’s soaking up the sun, getting lost in a good romance or sci-fi novel, or kicking back for movie night.

Chiropractic Bloomington IL Kaelyn Meet The Team

Do-er of All Things

Kaelyn Thoele

If something needs done, Kaelyn’s probably already doing it — and she somehow makes it look easy, always with a smile and a little extra pep in her step. She’s in her third year at Illinois State University studying exercise science and is a proud member of the ISU cheerleading team. She’s also exploring health career options, including chiropractic! A lifelong athlete with a background in gymnastics and track, she’s passionate about fitness, movement, and helping others feel their best. Originally from the Tri-Valley area, Kaelyn first connected with Action Wellness through a friend’s pre-chiropractic internship and now helps out wherever she’s needed around the office.

Kathy Wade smiling in front of greenery

Resident Decorator and More

Kathy Wade

If something looks great or runs smoothly around here, there’s a good chance Kathy had a hand in it. She’s been with Action Wellness since before it was cool — first as a patient and now as a vital part of the team. From decorating to problem-solving to keeping the wheels turning, she does it all (and usually ropes her husband, Brad, and kids, Emma and Austin, in to help). She loves animals, crafting, and making the office feel like home for everyone who walks through the door.
